Electronic driver’s licences will be available for Ukrainian drivers as early as December.

“Two or three weeks before the new year, it will be possible to enjoy a digital license,” Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation, said in an interview with Radio Liberty.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, police issued about 160,000 fines in nine months to drivers failing to present a valid licence or registration.

The Ukrainian cabinet previously said it will launch a number of online services, among them a mobile application for drivers.

“All drivers will be allowed not to carry their driver’s licence at all times, while car owners will not have to carry their registration,” the cabinet said.

“Our goal is to transfer all services online before 2024.”
