The United Arab Emirates launched a multiple-entry visa programme valid for 5 years for all nationalities, in order to boost tourism.

“The new tourist visa will be valid for 5 years and can be used for multiple entries and is open for all nationalities,” according to the Dubai Media Office.

Earlier on, the tourist visas were valid for only 30 to 90 days. But now, tourists of any nationality can get the five-year visa.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE prime minister and ruler of Dubai tweeted: “Today we change the system of issuing tourist visas in the country, to make the duration of the tourist visa for five-years, multiple uses, for all nationalities. We receive more than 21 million tourists annually and our aim is to establish the country as a major global tourist destination.”

The new visa programme is also part of preparing the country for the next 50 years of development.
