The validity of United Arab Emirates passport for citizens aged 21 years and older has been extended from the present five years to 10 years from the date of issuance, or until all its pages are fully used, whichever comes first.

This change went into effect on July 8, 2024, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).

The longer passport validity period will streamline bureaucracy and save customers time as they will only be required to renew their passport at a government office once every ten years. The established procedures and delivery service will remain the same.

Passports for UAE citizens under 21 years of age will remain valid for five years.
