The Central Bank of Turkmenistan (CBT) celebrates the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality (1995-2025) with a new series of commemorative banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, and 10, and 200 Manat. The latter is a new denomination, the highest denomination among Turkmenistan notes (the previous highest denomination was the 100 Manat). The release also coincides with the 2025 theme: the International Year of Peace and Trust. All of the notes went into circulation on December 1, 2025.

What else is new with the 2025 series banknotes? All are produced on a durable SAFEGUARD® polymer substrate, and they feature a special commemorative logo.

The visual design and color scheme of the 1, 5, and 10 Manat notes are very similar to the previous versions. However, the new 200 Manat denomination note has a unique design in honor of the country’s anniversary of neutrality. The 200 Manat note also depicts the Arkadag Monument on the front side and the administrative building of the Arkadag City khyakimlik (mayor’s office) on the back side.

The new, highest denomination 200 Manat banknote

The 200 Manat banknote integrates several cutting-edge security features, including: a holographic security foil stripe with SPOTLIGHT™ (an advanced holographic effect), PUREIMAGE™ (animated colour effects), and an achromatic switch. The holographic stripe is integrated in a transparent window. The 200 Manat note also includes a SPARK Flow® security feature.

The 5 and 1 Manat notes integrate an OVI®.

The new polymer banknotes will circulate alongside the previous cotton based banknote series from the years 2009, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2020.

Special feature to aid visually impaired consumers

The 2025 banknotes have integrated a new feature: a vertical line of embossed dots to help visually impaired consumers identify the denomination of each note. These dots appear in a different configuration for each value and are located on the face of the note, near the lower left corner.

All of the new notes—except for the 200 manat note—also have a vertical “stack” of raised horizontal slash lines on the short edge of the face of the notes. These lines tell visually impaired consumers the note’s denomination.
