Since last Monday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has started issuing a newly designed Drivers Licence (DL), Identification (ID) and Election Identification Certificate (EIC) cards for Texans.
Together with an updated design, the new cards will have better security features.
The card is made of a polycarbonate material that is resistant to counterfeiting and difficult to reproduce.
It will meet the national requirements standards established by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.
The gold star still remains in the upper right corner to indicate that the card is REAL ID compliant.
The communication impediment identifier has been moved to the front of the card as well as the a disabled veteran identifier and branch of service.
The current organ donor and veteran identifiers remain the same.
This new design provides all information necessary for identification and verification purposes in an easy-to-read format.
