A declaration signed by Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia will allow Swiss citizens to enter Georgia with their ID cards.

“Swiss citizens are able to enter Georgia with their travel documents, as well as with their ID cards which include their name, surname, date of birth and a photo,” according to this declaration.

When Georgia was allowed a visa waiver with the European Union in 2017, Georgians with a biometric passport were able to enter Switzerland without a visa for 90 days in any 180-day period.

If Georgians citizens want to stay longer in Switzerland, they will need a visa.

Since the Russia-Georgia 2008 War, Russia and Georgia have not reinstated their diplomatic relations.

Switzerland has performed the role of intermediary between the two countries since then.
