New Hampshire driver licenses and ID cards now have a new look. The new credentials, unveiled by the New Hampshire DMV on January 25, are also more resistant to fraud, thanks to upgraded security features and materials, as well as overt and covert security measures.
Starting January 27, 2025, all new driver license and non-driver ID card applicants will receive the updated design. Previously issued licenses and ID cards remain valid until their stated expiration date.
Familiar state icons (e.g., the state flower) and landmarks (e.g., the Old Man of the Mountain) are depicted with new artwork.

REAL ID compliance—and a new symbol
The new cards are Real ID compliant, a federal identification requirement that will be enforced starting May 7, 2025. (Licenses and ID cards issued from 2017 onward were also REAL ID compliant.) However, the new cards have an updated REAL ID symbol: a star cut out inside of a gold image representing the shape of the state.
