Banco de México announced that the new 100-peso banknote will be released during the second half of the year despite the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The bank said Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz will remain on the front of the banknote.

El Universal reports the back of the banknote will highlight the monarch butterfly, pine and oak, reflecting the country’s ecosystem.
