The Dominican Republic’s new passport is packed with security features in the hopes of thwarting organised crime.

According to Dominican Today, the features include:

  • A watermark
  • A safety sheet
  • The threads with guilloche print
  • 3D florescence
  • A 50 percent paper in cotton and 50 percent in wood pulp

The new passport will cost the same and is designed by Thales Groups (Gemalto), a software company certified by the Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), and is a world leader in digital security.
