Anthony Smith retired from public service in March 2013 after a long and distinguished career with the UK Home Office. He was the only immigration officer to have risen through the ranks to Director General. He served as Director of Border Control in the UK through the 7/7period, and as Gold Commander for the UK Border Agency’s Olympic Programme. In 2013 he received the Order of the Commander of the British Empire and is now an independent consultant on leadership and global border security solutions.
