Alenka Prvinšek Persoglio started her career in 1980 in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, and was appointed State Undersecretary for Migration and Naturalisation in 2001. She represented her country in the Committee of Experts on Nationality of the Council of Europe and chaired the working party that prepared the draft Convention on Nationality on Avoidance of Statelessness in Relation to State Succession.
In 2004 she joined the International Centre for Migration Development Policy in Vienna where she worked as a Senior Policy Advisor until 2013 when she co-founded
the international NGO Interact4c, which deals with the formulation of policies in matters on civil status.
