The Government of Belize and the Central Bank of Belize recently unveiled the country’s newly redesigned banknotes. The new notes feature designs that reflect the country’s rich heritage and commitment to modernity. All denominations—$2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100—have been redesigned.
The new family of banknotes coming to Belize this summer
The visual design of the notes reflects the rich heritage of Belize, including images of the only two recipients of the Order of National Hero. It’s notable that the portrait of Queen Elizabeth that appeared on previous banknotes has been removed.
The new notes also incorporate upgraded security features to thwart counterfeiters. These features include enhanced watermarks, colour-shifting security threads, and holographic stripes.
All of the new banknotes will be dated February 1, 2025. However, it is expected that the new notes won’t be put into circulation until June or July.
